This is probably the first time in history, since we are living longer, where there are two generations of older people, there appears precious little support for the younger generation to care for their elderly parents, much less neighbours and friends and we are still not at the peak of the time when baby boomers reach the second stage of 'old age'. It does not take a lot to imagine what needs to be done in order to maintain our economy, the question is whether we can reinvent ourselves in time to prevent it and find a new way.
